Grades 7-8
Welcome back to our 2009-2010 school year! We are truly thankful and honored to have the opportunity to teach your children the marvels of God’s creation, and the all important saving truths of Christ’s love and forgiveness.
Our theme for the year is “With God all things are possible.” What comfort that is for us to know, especially when realize our many faults and shortcomings. Christ has fulfilled everything and has made us perfect in our heavenly Father’s eyes. We turn to Him for help and assurance in all things.
Here are a few new features we are presenting to the upper grade classes:
· New resource site:
http://holycrossmadison-schubkegel.blogspot.com/ - this site - is the place to go for classroom and school calendar information, assignments, athletic maps, news blogs, and more.
· SnapGrades will again be used for updated grades. Please check this regularly to monitor your child’s progress.
· Classes, classroom, and facility:
The classroom has a new and different layout, with a repositioned marker board and some new features, classroom lizards, and technological advances. The drinking fountain in the hall is new and fully operational. Our parking lot is newly resurfaced and repainted. The gym and hallways are shiny, and the carpets cleaned. Thanks to all who helped!
· Here are the classes that will be taught to your children in grades 7-8:
Pastor Tweit: Catechism 7
Pastor Bartels: Catechism 8
Mr. Schubkegel: Bible History, English, History, Latin, Art, Physical Education
Miss Krause: Science, Health, Life Skills, Literature, Penmanship, Music, Jr. Choir
Mrs. Cleven: Math, Algebra, Spanish, Life Skills
Mrs. Stulken: band, hand bells, chimes
· After school and morning care will be in the old 7th grade classroom. Parents who make use of this are asked to use the doors next to the dumpsters to pick-up your children. An AFC door bell will be the contact that will notify the workers of your presence.
Thank you to those who scheduled a home visit this summer. The information that was handed out at those meetings was given to your child on the first day of school, which included: classroom schedule, dress code, classroom procedures, daily assignment schedule, athletic information, detailed school calendar, and more.
One of our first art projects involves a railroad spike, and how it could be symbolic in a number of ways:
· It was heavy, dirty and rusty. We are sinful and weighed down with the burdens of sin in our lives.
· It was a spike. Christ our Savior was nailed to wood to take those sins away.
· Students attempted to clean their own spike. On the outside it looked fine, but we know that we cannot make ourselves pure from sin.
· Rail spikes keep the tracks in line. When even one person in the class or our school goes astray or gets out of line, it weakens us all. “Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love.” Faithful and daily use of God’s Word keeps us all tied together in Christ.
· Spray-painted with metallic gold paint. Even though we daily sin, our heavenly Father looks at us as pure, shiny, and clean, thanks to the redeeming work of Jesus. It also reminds us of the perfection we will receive in heaven!
Feel free to contact me at any time with any questions. God’s blessings on your school year.
